The EU4Environment Water and Data will participate in this event and report on introducing epidemiology surveillance in wastewater in the EaP countries.

The International Conference aims to create the basis for a Global Wastewater Consortium to ensure the integration of wastewater-based surveillance into core public health functions.

The conference is organised by the European Commission, supported by the German Ministry of Health (Bundesgesundheitsministerium), the Ministry for Economic Affairs, Energy, Transport and Housing – State of Hessen, Hessen Trade & Invest, as well as the Bill-and-Melinda Gates Foundation, in coordination with the World Health Organization (WHO), organises the International Conference “Towards a Global Wastewater Surveillance System for Public Health”. Numerous state and non state actors, such as national health agencies, philanthropic organisations, research groups and the private sector, endorse this global initiative and are registered already.
