The Republic of Moldova has a strong policy and legislative framework related to open data. In 2014, the country has adopted a  Policy Concept on the Principles of Open Government Data and the existing environmental legislation promotes the access and dissemination of environmental information held by the public authorities. 

EU4Environment – Water and Data works to support the development of an online entry point for access to data and information on water and the environment in the Republic of Moldova. Its development requires reinforcing access to existing data and information, developing metadata to ease data integration, and developing means to allow feedback and contributions from citizens.
