Workshop on quantitative management planning

  • Date: 08/07/2024
  • Country: Regional
  • Component: Water resources

Quantitative water management ensures that water resources are fairly allocated and secures sustainable water supplies for the community, agriculture, industry and the environment for future generations. Well-designed quantitative water management planning at sub-basin scale contributes to prevent on the ground conflicts between users and limit environmental impact and economic losses.

In view of the elaboration and implementation of River basin management plans (RMBPs) in Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine, this online workshop has the objectives to illustrate how quantiative water management can be included as relevant measures of the programmes of measures (PoM), and to enable peer-to-peer exchanges between Eastern Partner Countries.

This regional workshop is dedicated to:

  • National bodies involved in the preparation and implementation of PoM,
  • Sectoral stakeholders and water users representatives,
  • Donors involved in the region,
  • Local and regional organizations involved in water allocation.

The workshop will be translated in the 5 languages of the Eastern Partner Countries. Participation is guaranteed with a registration within the limit of 300 participants.

Workshop on Financing Water Security in Moldova

  • Date: 21/03/2024
  • Country: Republic of Moldova
  • Component: Environmental Data, Other

Action on finance under the EU4Environment Water & Data programme is focussed on the implementation of RBMP Programs of Measures (PoMs), including Nature-based Solutions (NbS). This includes developing recommendations on domestic finance mobilisation through instruments such as water tariffs and taxes, assessing national enabling environments for water finance, and identifying innovative and cost-effective approaches.

Held back-to-back with Moldova’s annual National Policy Dialogue on Water, this workshop will discuss the ongoing work on the OECD Assessment of the Enabling Environment for Water Finance in Moldova and work on water tax reforms. While each piece of work is distinct, and the discussions will be driven by the specific findings and recommendations, the workshop will embody the holistic approach taken by the EU4Environment Water & Data Programme, as well as the complexity of financing water security from both domestic and international sources of finance.
